Strong start to a new fashion decade: Despite massive change in the fashion sector, the ordering location Düsseldorf remains stable and guarantees planning reliability. Featuring fashion on all levels is the recipe for success in the capital of North-Rhine Westphalia. During the highly frequented Ordering Days, Düsseldorf scores with a unique diversity of brands at a range of fairs as well as 670 showrooms - effectively connected by Fashion Net’s services. The sixth presentation of the Fashion Business Award, the Fashion Net & Friends Come Together as well as other networking formats revolving around the Ordering Days bring the who’s who of the fashion business together and round out the fashion experience in the Rhine metropolis.
Fashion in every facet
Fashion not only comprises around eight percent of the local economic output, but it’s also part of Düsseldorf’s cultural DNA. The Pierre Cardin Fashion Futurist exhibition at the Kunstpalast as well as the first retrospective show still curated by Peter Lindberg himself in February of this year prove that Düsseldorf can fuse art with fashion creating international relevance. Highlight of the coming CPD edition: the sixth presentation of the Fashion Business Award. Initiated by Fashion Net and funded by the city, this event underlines not only fashion as a part of this successful business hub, but also demonstrates the international reach of the location and its protagonists.
Fashion location Düsseldorf and economic development agency continue teamwork: Theresa Winkels takes over
A further constant in Düsseldorf’s fashion sector: Support by the state capital’s economic development agency. For over ten years, the city and Fashion Net Düsseldorf have been working together on the fashion location’s strategic positioning and economic development. New agency head, Theresa Winkels carries forward this commitment to the fashion theme in the state capital. “Throughout the year, fashion is one of the city’s most important themes and its central, local economic driver. Currently, the fashion industry is struggling with massive restructuring and losses in turnover, however the ordering business at the Düsseldorf location remains stable and is something international buyers can rely on. Together with Fashion Net Düsseldorf, we continue to develop targeted measures to keep the city an attractive center for the international fashion business,” says Theresa Winkels, head of economic development in Düsseldorf.
Fashion Net at CPD: Communication and service
“Aside from the unparalleled, concentrated variety of brands, another one of Düsseldorf’s strengths is the planning reliability it guarantees buyers. Compared to other fashion destinations, Düsseldorf is strong in turnover. With various event formats, we continue to contribute to successful and international communication in the business sector,” says Angelika Firnrohr, managing director of Fashion Net Düsseldorf e.V.
Fashion Net offers both communication and service 365 days a year. Here sellers, manufacturers, fairs and brands find not only all event dates and insights into the business, but can also take advantage of a directory of all showrooms and fashion houses — for a centralized and effective round of ordering.
Besides offering a range of services online, Fashion Net also simplifies the ordering experience for buyers offline. The rotating Fashion Net Shuttle as well as the rickshaw service on Kaiserswerther Strasse connects fairs and showrooms, making the CPD even more efficient for buyers. In addition, the visitor’s guide “Places we love” has received an update: along with a culinary cross-section of restaurants and bars close by, the newly published booklet also introduces breakfast locations as well as fashion hotspots. The Fashion Net & Friends Come Together on Sunday, January 26 at Düsseldorf’s wholesale flower market forms the crowning climax of the CPD Ordering Days and with around 800 guests constitutes Germany’s largest gathering in the fashion business.
